WiN-Canada Student Scholarship 2019
About the Scholarship
WiN (Women in Nuclear) Canada wishes to recognize young women who play a pivotal role, in their studies and in their communities, in highlighting the benefits of the nuclear industry. The WiN Canada Student Scholarship will be awarded to three (3) deserving applicants who will receive an engraved plaque and a financial contribution of CAN $3,000 each, to be put towards their continued pursuit of a career in the nuclear industry.
Awards will be provided as per the following:
- One (1) scholarship for a woman currently enrolled and in good standing in an undergraduate university program, with a clear, demonstrated interest and career path in the nuclear industry
- One (1) scholarship for a woman currently enrolled and in good standing in an graduate program, with a clear, demonstrated interest and career path in the nuclear industry
- One (1) scholarship for a woman currently enrolled and in good standing in a technical college or trade school program, with a clear, demonstrated interest and career path in the nuclear industry
The winners of the scholarship are encouraged to attend the Women in Nuclear Canada Conference in Port Elgin from September 22 to 24, 2019. Conference registration, accommodations and travel expenses will be covered by WiN-Canada, up to a maximum of $1,500.00.
The scholarships will be generously provided by WiN-Canada sponsors within Canada’s nuclear industry, with the goal of highlighting the many career opportunities within the industry and the vision of a more diverse and inclusive workforce.
Eligibility
Women currently enrolled and in good standing at a Canadian university, technical college, or trade school program who can demonstrate their interest in working in the nuclear industry once their studies are complete. Work experience in the industry is an asset, however it is not a requirement. All fields of study will be considered. Applicants must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents.
How to Apply
1. Complete the scholarship application form.
2. Provide a one-page CV, and highlight your interest in the nuclear industry and any applicable experience, work or otherwise (i.e. mentoring, volunteering, etc.)
3. Provide a full transcript for your school. An unofficial transcript is acceptable.
4. Provide a letter of support or reference from at least two (2) of the following:
- a. Industry professional/professor;
- b. Professor/teacher/tutors;
- c. Colleagues/peers;
- d. Community leaders;
- e. Work supervisors or employers; or
- f. Leaders of volunteer organizations;

The judging committee will be a sub-committee of the WiN-Canada Board of Directors. The successful recipients will be notified by Friday, August 16, 2019, and the scholarship will be awarded at the 16th Annual WiN Canada conference September 22 to 24, 2019.
