Volunteer to Help A Girl Out and fight period poverty!
Did you know that one in six Canadians who menstruate faces the harsh reality of period poverty? That's right, 17% of individuals are struggling to access menstrual supplies. This number jumps to one in four (25%) for those living in households earning less than $40,000 annually.
Women in Nuclear GHW is teaming up with Help A Girl Out, an anti-poverty organization dedicated to eradicating period poverty in Canada and in developing countries.
Join us for an unforgettable "kit packing party" where we'll assemble essential kits and have the opportunity to hear from Yanique Brandford, the incredible founder of Help A Girl Out, who is also a Radiation Protection Technician with Laurentis Energy Partners!
Be sure to bring any donations of hygiene and menstrual products. Together, we'll make a difference, have a blast, and show our unwavering support for this remarkable mission. Let's come together, lend a helping hand, and spread love and hope to those in need!
Date: Friday, April 5
Time: 4:30 p.m. to 7/8 p.m. (kit packing starts at 5 p.m.)
Location: 800 Kipling Ave., Etobicoke (hosted by Kinectrics)
Cost: $30
(The $30 event cost will be used to purchase materials for the kits, or otherwise donated to Help A Girl Out. Please see their website if you'd like to make a further donation!)
This event is open to WiN GHW chapter members and non-members alike, so please help spread the word about this event within your organization. More volunteers means more kits packed!
High school-aged youth are welcome and we can complete volunteer forms acknowledging their participation.
A pizza dinner and refreshments will be provided for all volunteers.
